update

After the opening round of this year’s Kent Road Running Grandprix, the team standings are as follows. The men are currently placed 7th overall with our women in 13th place, pretty slow start for the IEK, a number of regulars out injured or struggling in the race with injuries.
Individually within the various age groups, top Invicta athletes are:-
Senior men:
Mark Wilkins is placed 3rd overall, followed by Andy Cope in 33rd.

M60s:
Martyn Rouse is currently placed 2nd within the championship.

Only one women represented us at Dartford!
So within the senior womens championship:
Claire Brown is placed 13th overall at this stage of the season.

Next race is the Thanet 20, so anyone doing a marathon should really consider this race!

SEAA 2009 - u20 (Watford) -

Jason Prickett follows Donald Carter in breaking 2 minute barrier

Having threatened all last season to break the magic 2 minutes for 800m as an u-17, Jason Prickett finally made it (twice in one day) while concentrating on getting into the semis of this year's u-20 Regional Championships at Watford.
Donald Carter (1m 59.4) was the first IEK male for a while to dip under 2 minutes when winning at the u-20 League match at Ashford in mid June. At the same match, Jason was putting in stamina work at the 3,000m as part of the strategy of racing fast in the heats of 800m and then aiming to go faster in the next round.
At Watford, Jason made the regional semi-final when posting his first sub-2 (1m 59.39) in a fast heat where only 2/10ths covered the first 5 - in the semis, Jason went up a notch against the eventual gold & silver medallists when he posted his best ever of 1.58.46.
The battle between Jason and Donald for IEK u-20 club champion later this season is an event to savour, not to overlook James Reilly and Andy Cope....

Highest standard at Field events was Max Farnell (1st year u-13) who achieved Grade 4 in High Jump.
