INVICTA ARE IN DIVISION 4 SOUTH FOR 2008 SEASON

We will be in Div 4 South. This is particularly good news for all the male senior track & field athletes in the club but also for many of our junior and veteran athletes. This is because many of the teams in Div 4 are made up of lots of younger athletes and vets, so it provides excellent competition and valuable experience in a very friendly but low-key way.

I would therefore encourage the coaches of juniors to incorporate the SML matches into their athletes competition programme for the track and field season. I am keen to liaise with coaches and athletes in such planning and can assure them that I will respect their decisions regarding events to be contested and will NEVER pressure anyone to do events they are unwilling to do.

Another advantage of being in Div 4 is that it is now organised on a North/South regional basis, so we will not have to travel to venues throughout the large area covered by the Southern League. League fixtures have now been confirmed. There are two competitors per event so it is very much in our interest to field full teams. There should be plenty of competition for everyone who wants this.

I will provide further details about the arrangements for the season ahead through notices on the board in the Clubhouse. In the meantime I very much encourage everyone interested in competing in the SML to put their details on the notice board in the Clubhouse or to get in contact with me via email/phone/Thursday nights when I coach at the club. I naturally also welcome dialogue with all our club coaches.

I am very much looking forward to participation in the SML this summer and do hope that as many of you as possible will support the team and help to further enhance the proud reputation of Invicta East Kent.
