Subject: Kent Fitness league - Race 4

Assuming there is no more Siberian-type weather between now and the weekend, the Kent Fitness League is back on track with our visit to Minnis Bay on Sunday 9th January.  This will be our first time on the North Kent coast for 2 years as this event fell victim to the weather last season.

See the map how to get there – basically, carry on to the end of the Thanet Way, head for Margate on the A28 but turn left when you reach Birchington Church.  When you arrive, there is plenty of parking and plenty of toilets but, I’m afraid, not much else in the way of indoor accommodation.  So come ready changed ready for the cold and wet !

The senior race starts at 11.00 am – it is a single circuit of nearly 6 miles, largely flat, but over waterlogged, muddy paths and punctuated by 5 memorable dykes each of which involves climbing down and up out again (who knows what may be lurking in the bottom).  Start should be on the beach, tides permitting.

This is preceded by a junior race over a distance of 2.3 km which goes off at 10.15 am.

There is a café/bar next to the finish area for refreshments afterwards once you have cleaned up.  Can we have a quick get together of the club captains afterwards to decide what we do about the cancelled Sevenoaks race ?

See you all on Sunday.
