Who may take part

Any primary school child who is in year 3, 4, 5 or 6  - competition is normally confined to the child's year group

 

Open meeting means "open to all-comers"  regardless of standard or experience


You don't have to belong to a club - you just turn up, choose event(s) and pay the entry fee


Entry fees

The fee for the whole morning is £3

Which events

  • each Open has 4 events - a sprint, a longer run, a jump and a throw.
  • Throws, jumps and distance of races, are different at each Open
  • jumps & throws - three attempts each, including the practice attempt

 

Number of events

one fee on the day and you may do as many of the 4 events on offer as you wish.


Register in the clubhouse 30 mins before each of your chosen event(s)

General principles

 

The main aim is for children under-11 to practice competition procedures by going through the range of things encountered in competition under UKA Rules but presented here in a more flexible manner - ie.


  • registration
  • reporting to the start area at the right time
  • sequence of commands for start of races
  • what to do at the finish
  • what the safety rules are
