Becky & Sarah pioneer female athletics

Becky Reilly followed Paddock Wood's Sarah Shepherd across the line at our 2009 Club Chamopionships to become the first u-17 females, in the history of either club, to contest the steeplechase

New IEK all-time female record

Becky's time of 7 mins 31.4 is the first ever IEK mark for u-17 Females and it clips 4 seconds off Joanna Jeffery's all-time IEK female record for 1,500m steeplechase, set in 1997 Becky entered at the last minute and the only coaching she got was 10 minutes before the race with Club Chairman James Roberts who was 3rd in English[img:512r] Schools steeplechase at Hendon in 1964 Minutes after Becky's race, Sam Hudson won the u17 men's 1,500m steeplechase ahead of the biggest field ever to contest the u-17 club championship Over the summer, 112 club members collected a massive 196 club championship titles, 87 silvers and 45 bronzes across all age groups in 14 track & 9 field events : the curtain was brought down at CHS track in true pioneering style in the very last event of the 2009 Club championships by two girls, one from each club - IEK and guests, Paddock Wood.
