... 3 sprinters and 1 Shot Putter out-numbered by 5 middle-distance selections

Two events (Inter Girls 300m & Junior Girls 1500m) each had 2 IEK selections who competed against each other - in Inter Girls (Yrs 10 & 11) training partners Laura Clark and Annabel Carter were paired, yet again, at 300m - Laura still holds the upper hand, winning the B race with Annabel 3rd of the 5 competitors.

In the Shot Put, Anna Alvarez celebrated selection for English Schools in Gateshead (1st weekend of July) with a sound 9.71m, just 6 cm behind the Hampshire B string athlete.

Running her 3rd 1500m in 3 days Anna Weston hung on gamely for 3rd in the B category, while Bobby Clay - fresh after almost 2 weeks rest - ran away from the field clocking 4mins 40.1, almost 2 seconds inside Rebecca Weston's u-15 club record of 4:41.88 set in 2007

Lilly Coward - called up mid-week for 800m - finished 2nd in the B catogory, a sparkling last 150m closing a 20metre gap from her Surrey rival to just 5 metres.

One of only 3 male IEK selections, Luke Dawson ran a sound 4mins 11.60 in Intermediate Boys 1,500m after a close tussle with Kent rival Dominic Brown, the latter showing as disqualified in the official results

Two IEK newcomers to competitive athletics gave good account of themsleves in Junior Boys section (yrs 8 & 9)

Sprinter Jack Mullin had won 400m silver at the Kent Schools a week earlier when running 59.35 - at Erith he was 3rd Kent finisher in a new personal best 58.6

IEK performance of the day came from Dominic Snee whose recent work on technique with coach Tony Piersall is paying dividends - Dom claimed silver with a pb 1.71m at Ashford in the Kent Schools - a week later, at Erith Dom soared over 1.75m (English Schools Entry Standard) to match Kent Schools champion Joe Clark on the day, Dom winning the event on count-back.

Dom is unlucky not to be selected for the English Schools National Finals at Gateshead on 1 & 2 July
