Watford BMC Gold & Open     -    Wednesday 13 July 2011

.... pb for both Kieran (8th in BMC Gold 800m) and Jason (1st in Open 800m)

In a 1½ hour feast of no fewer than 22 competitive races at 800m involving 250 athletes, the Watford Open lived up to its reputation of tabling superb races at all levels of middle-distance running.

Averaging 11 athletes per race, the first 800m was at 8.10pm on a warm gusty July evening with runners recording 3minutes and Race 22, concluded at 9.40pm, had all contestants well under 2 minutes.

In the final 800m of the evening, Jason Prickett (u-20) posted a winning pb of 1:54.57 when outsprinting 3 Senior Men including fellow St Mary's student Sam Deathe and brothers Jack and Ben Tyler from Medway &

Maidstone AC. This was Jason's 1st sub-1.55 this season and his 3rd as an u-20

Earlier Kieran Reilly was one of only 3 u20s to contest 800m in the 3 Gold Standard BMC paced races where no fewer than 18 of the 24 athletes posted sub 1min 53 - four of them (including the 2 other u-20s) in Race C where Kieran was 8th, .

Kieran's 1:54.31 is his first sub-1.55 time and it takes him top of IEK rankings for 2011, two tenths faster than Jason and makes for a mouth-watering contest at our internal club championships in September
