Multi Event Promise Continues

Holly Fielder and Emily Higham represented the Kent Schools on 20th May in a Pentathlon Competition against London Schools at Lee Valley.

 

Holly had a very strong day and finished second in thecompetition with a personal best of 2708 points (an improvement of over 150 points on her previous best set at the start of the month in Portsmouth) and which is a National Grade 2 Standard. She started the day with a season’s best in the 75mH of 13.3secs (539 points and a National Grade 4 Standard). She then followed that up with a personal best in the shot of 8.13m (408 points and a National Grade 4 Standard). In the high jump she then cleared 1.38m (491 points). She then had the furthest long jump of the day with a new personal best of 4.99m (557 points and a National Grade 2 Standard). In the final event, the 800m, she then ran 2mins 28.4secs (713 points and a National Grade 4 Standard) which was just 0.1secs outside of her new personal best. Holly’s
score moves her up to 7th in the current UK rankings and puts her 2nd in Invicta’s All-Time U15 rankings.


Emily finished 13th overall with a score of 1967 points (National Grade 4 Standard). She started with a new personal best in the 75mH of 14.6secs (430 points) and then followed this up with a Pentathlon personal best in the shot of 7.44m (363 points). After a high jump of 1.38m (491 points) Emily then jumped 3.99m (306 points) in the long jump. She then completed the final event, the 800m, in 2mins 58.7secs (377 points).


All in all it was a very good competition for both girls.
