All Systems Go for 2017 Parker Tools Canterbury 10

The 2017 Parker Tools Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race will take place on January 22nd. It will, as usual be mainly run along undulating country lanes to the south of the city. Locally based Invicta East Kent runner Abel Tsegay will be going for a trio of victories and will aim to improve on his 51m 36sec winning time of 2016.

For the second year, the main sponsor will be Canterbury based Parker Tools (part of the Parker Steel Group). The race, which is organised by Invicta East Kent Athletic Club, boasted a record entry of over 1300 runners in 2016 and it is hoped that this total can be topped next year.

There is a new race HQ at Canterbury Christchurch University Sports Centre who also will be providing prizes of sessions in their Sports Lab for the top 3 male and female runners to go with cash prizes and trophies.

There are also trophies for the winning man V40, V50, V60 and V70 and lady V35, V45, V55 and V65, plus the winning male and female Teams .

All runners will receive a quality medal and free photographic downloads. There will also be free massage at the finish offered by Kesson Physiotherapy.

The race will once again support the Pilgrims Hospices with £ 1,500 being donated to this worthwhile cause in 2016.

Race Director Glenn Mousley has said “all is in place for another great event. It is set to be a popular race, so potential entrants should register in good time to ensure a place”.
