Chris Holmes smashes 10K PB in fast road race

Invicta u-20 athlete Chris Holmes smashed his 10k PB by over one minute in Southampton last weekend at the Eastleigh 10K Road Race : his time would have placed him 2nd (behind Barry Royden) at last year's Whitstable 10k - he would also have been 3rd (just 2 seconds behind Royden) at last year's Larkfield 10k as well as 2nd behind Michael Coleman in the Dinosaur 10k in July last year. Chris has been a regular for Invicta in cross-country and at the Southern Mens League in the past few seasons, and was a silver medallist in last season's u-20 Kent 10K track championships when he recorded 34 mins 54.6 At Eastleigh Chris set his new mark of 33:42 in a field of 1580 runners when finishing 43rd overall (3rd u-20) in a race which always attracts top quality runners because the course has a reputation as a place to run quick times.
