[img:672f] In her 3rd race this season, Beth ran sensibly, even if in lane 3 most of the way, clinching silver right on the line in 9:46.81, making it 3 medals in 3 appearances - as an Intermediate Girl she won bronze (2007) and silver in 2008. In 2009, as a Senior Girl, she was sidelined with persistent injury - her silver this year is in her last year at school before going up to St Mary's College Twickenham in September. The remaining 4 IEK members at the Aviva English Schools National championships in Birmingham were all selected for the first time. Anna Alvarez was 6th in Junior Girls Shot Put with 10.70m, only 10 cm short of the u-15 IEK club record she had set just a month ago - Kieran Reilly had qualified for 3 events at ESAA, including 800m and 1500m but was eventually selected for 3,000m where, in a strong field of 21 rivals, he finished a creditable 9th in 8:53.60, only 1 second short of his best - Jason Prickett narrowly missed qualifying for the final of Senior Boys 800m despite a Grade 2 time of 1min 55.26 in the heats - Jaffer Adams was unlucky not to make round 2 of the Junior Boys 200m despite being 3rd in his heat in a Grade 1 time of 24.1, only half a second outside his best.
