Kent Indoor Championship                                                               Lea Valley  -  Saturday 5 March 2011

  • 9 IEK athletes (7 male and 2 female) in 6 disciplines

  • 11 finalists bag 7 medals - 3 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze 



Chris Chancellor took the limelight for IEK contestants at these championships when taking gold (200m) and silver (60m) equalling the Championship best of 22.99 for 200m in the process

Chris was joined in the 60m final by training partner Kegan Goldsack Marsh who clocked 7.43 for 6th place

In 800m, Sam Hudson, Ben Burton and Jacob Burton  all reproduced exactly the same position they achieved at the u-17 event last year, each of them improving on last year's performances by about 3 seconds.

Sam was a comfortable winner  in 2.04.39, Ben taking silver in 2.07.37 and brother Jacob 4th in 2mins 13.59


Dan Langridge was 5th in the heats of the 60m and 4th in the Final of the Shot Putt with 8.96m


Anna Alvarez took Shot Putt gold with a sound 10.32m


In his first year at u-17 Jack Hawkins was 3rd in the heats of 60m then cleared 5.15m for 4th in tthe final of the Long Jump



Multi-eventer Rhiannon Wallwork (also in the first year of a new age group) took on 3 events reaching the semi-finals of 60m in 8.42 secs, then sweeping to 200m bronze in 28.36.

Rhiannon topped her first outing at indoor championships with a splendid silver at long jump with a leap of 4.68m
