Noel and Harding lead the way for Kent

Two new South East County champions for Invicta East Kent

 

Invicta had four athletes representing Kent Schools at the South East Schools’ Combined events Champs at Ashford.Taking on athletes from Berks, Hants, Herts, London, Surrey and Sussex.

 

Leading the way was Douglas Noel (U20M) who won the Decathlon title with a new personal best score of 5720 points and which led Kent to the Team title. Doug had personal bests in the 100m (12.4secs), 100mH (16.9secs), discus (38.35m) and javelin (46.23m).

 

Not to be outdone was Isabelle Harding (U15G) who won the Pentathlon title with a massive new personal best score of 3161 points and which also led Kent to the Team title. In securing her win Isabelle had personal bests in the shot (8.87m), long jump (5.06m) and 800m (2:26.2). Isabelle’s winning score is a National Standard and a UK leading score.

 

In the U17M Luke Mellor successfully completed his first Octathlon finishing 19th with a personal best score of 3698 points and was part of the Kent team that also claimed the Team title. Luke had personal bests in the discus (27.57m), javelin (34.54m), 400m (58.9secs), shot (10.32m) and 1500m (5:31.8).

 

All three athletes will now go on to represent Kent at the English Schools Combined Events Champs in September.

 

Finally, in the U20W Heptathlon there was a welcome return to multi event competition for Emily Higham. She finished 9th with a personal best score of 2947 points and a personal best in the 800m (2.44.6)
