Interested in qualifying to be an Official?

We cannot hold our Open Meetings without qualified officials and it is easy to get qualified. The club will pay for it.

Once you are qualified as a L1 Official, along with volunteering at open meetings and Invicta East Kent’s two main road races – Canterbury Ten Mile in January and the Herne Bay 10K in July, you may wish to help out at county-level fixtures such as the various Kent Championships or the Kent Young Athlete League and we would encourage you to do this to gain experience and confidence, working with a wide variety of athletes

How do I get involved?

Choose your discipline: Track, Field, Starter/Starter’s Assistant, Timekeeper, Assistant Official (14+)

1. Attend a L1 course, including a Health & Safety module.

2. Keep a receipt as the club will reimburse you!

3. Keep a log of 4 experiences. Our open meetings are the perfect opportunity to practice and gain experience! You can backdate experiences from before you attended the course.

4. Submit your log to the Kent Officials’ Secretary

5. Your licence should then arrive in the post!

*Field Judges should be aware that to lead the long throws (Javelin, Hammer, Discus), a L2 qualification is needed.

If you are interested the next Level 1 course is in Tonbridge on Sunday the 21st October.  The course will start at 10am with registration starting from 9.15 in the Tonbridge AC club room. Anyone wishing to book onto the course must contact Nikki ASAP, as spaces will be limited.

This is a great way to get involved in your club and be part of a team of volunteers, look out for more information on how you can get involved and be part of this
