A record 118 entries from clubs as far apart as Chelmsford and Eastbourne provided a buzzing atmosphere in which 5 IEK age group records were broken and no fewer than 14 members emerged as Club Champions - 7 at Long Jump and 7 at 5,000m.
Anna Alvarez not only broke her own u-15 IEK Shot Put record for the 3rd time this season, she finally did in competition what she's done in training - she's now the first u-15 club member to officially break the 11 metre mark : before this Open Anna was ranked 10 in the UK - her 11.21m here puts her up to 7th u-15 in the UK.
Donald Carter made a 'low-key return' to track racing with a Senior Men's record for 2,000m, with Kieran Reilly bettering Andy Cope's 2007 u-17 Men's record for the same distance by 15 seconds.
Anna Weston broke new ground by establishing a new 2,000m mark for u-13 girls which is not only faster than the IEK u-13 boys best by Louis Duprez but is also the 2nd fastest all-time IEK female behind Beth Carter.
Jaffer Adams did a Carl Lewis with a sprint + long jump : in the 100m he equalled Andrew Loveland's 23 year-old club record which puts him equal 25th in this year's u-15 UK rankings - he then became u-15 Club Long Jump champion 2010 with 5.60m (the longest leap of the meeting) which puts him equal 70th in the UK rankings.
