Busiest weekend in our club winter calendar

The club's wide range of interests/activities across all age groups was on show over the last weekend of January.....


On the Saturday, 39 members competed in the Southern Region Championships when tackling the demanding course at Parliament Hill in North London. The 2 highest placed individuals were Jake Rogers (10th, u15 Boys) and Bobby Clay (12th u-13 Girls) while Beth Burnett (83rd) & Rachel Burton (85th) were our leading u-17 females and Jason Prickett (u20) was 3rd Kent man home. The Red Sparrows (u-13 Girls) were the club's best team in 6th place with 3 scorers in the top 40. [img:575l]Our Senior women 8k with Claire Brown first home in 137th, Vicky Talbot-Rosner (185) just ahead of Liz Batty (193) and Lisa Clayton (281) and Sue Cooper in 285th). The Men raced 9 miles with Mark Wilkins (97th) first in, Damien Vadgama (179) and third scorer Michael Gore (394), Tom Purnell (435) with Adam Cowper-Smith (488). On morning of the Sunday, a dozen more members competed on the Road in our own Barrett's Canterbury 10 Mile race, while 60 volunteers helped marshal the course, man the water stations and run the refreshment stall. -----For results click underlined text....[doc:571]

Indoor Athletics

Among the 10 Mile competitors was vet-60 Tony Piersall who immediately rushed off to Swanley to co-ordinate the indoor efforts of our u-11 and u-13s who on Sunday afternoon ran, jumped and threw their way into 2nd place. -----Results not yet available - for Kent Championship Indoor Sporthall at Tonbridge in December 2009 click underlined text....[doc:574] Meanwhile, according to the Kent AA website, seven (7) IEK members have entered the County Indoor Championships at Lea Valley on w/end of 6/7 Feb 2010 -----For list of entrants (event not specified) click.....
