Youngster shows Seniors the way home at Deal!

Andy Cope was first Invicta runner home in the Deal 5-mile road race, part of this year's Kent Grandprix. Andy (coached by Peter Mullervy) had an outstanding run to finish 4th overall with a time of 28:44 which was also a PB! He was closely followed by senior Thomas Purnell (5th) who smashed his own PB with 28:55 and continues to improve with every race, certainly a man to be watched in 2009! Tim Sutton (21st) was first Invicta Vet home, dipping just under 30mins with 29:51 and Peter Bowell, still feeling tired from the previous weekend's Bupa Great South Run, was 38th in 31:05. Just 22 seconds adrift of Peter, Martyn Rouse continues to defy youth by finishing 43rd in 31:27, with 15 year-old Kieran Reilly 52nd in 32:12. In a low turn out by Invicta females, Vicky Talbot-Rosner (85th overall) once again ran very well clocking 33:51. Michael Conway (33:54) and Tim Kerr (36:32) closed the red entry. Invicta East Kent AC claimed the 2nd Team place on the day behind Paddock Wood AC. This was the last round of the 2008 Kent Grandprix - our final overall positions (plus the fixtures for 2009) will be posted as soon as received. Michael Gore (Acting road race Co-ordinator)
