Reds at Kent XC League in Knole Park

Although Tonbridge AC won 7 of the 9 team races and also had 4 individual winners, our own turnout was the 3rd highest of the 18 clubs in the Kent League and[img:348l] we even provided two individual winners - Beth Carter and Hugo Hayes - plus many sterling performances. With one match remaining, Beth and Hugo are both still unbeaten in the league this season : Beth was just too fit and strong for the u-17 & u-20 females, while Hugo put in the canniest run of the day when he got his tactics right to win the u-15. Hugo wisely remained patient and completed the first hill in 20th and didn't hit the front until midway round the 2nd lap... Kieran Reilly improved from 13th last time to 10th this time, and Chris Thomas made the top 20 in his first outing for several months while Sam Hudson kept good shape & rhythm until the last km. Jake Rogers learned last year that racing with a heavy cold can wreck half your season - today he wisely decided to support team-mates from the sidelines... Beth Burnett (who crossed the line in her red socks - her spikes were found out on the course) and Becky Reilly (pictured) both personified the red fighting spirit. Our Senior women, led home this time by evergreen Liz Batty, are 4th in the league, while Sue Cooper is the only Senior to have turned out in all three matches so far. Our u-13 Girls are 3rd and u-15 Girls are 4th in their leagues, but the highest IEK team is the u-15 Boys who are 2nd to defending champions... Tonbridge !!
