Chris Chancellor revises u-17 IEK record for 100m at Mile End

In the sweltering heat of a league match at Mile End, Chris Chancellor finally overtook clubmate Mac Cole in our internal 100m rankings for 2009 when recording his first Grade 1 to eclipse James Bridge's 9 year-old u-17 mark of 11.21. A day earlier Chris had already raced 3rd in 100m & 2nd at 200m at the SE Schools Intercounties at Southampton. At Mile End, Rebecca Weston won the 800m, yet again faster than Charlotte Dale's u-17 best - like Chris Chancellor, Rebecca had also raced the day before at Southampton where she won the 1500m in another sizzling sub 4mins 40. Two more IEK performers at Southampton also turned out for the league team at Mile End : Jake Rogers focused on speed with pb in both 200m & 400m, while Luke Dawson improved his 800m best, the day after overtaking Jake in the u15 IEK 1500m rankings. Under-13 squad members Bobby Clay, Amy Old, Anna Weston and Charlotte Nicholas made it a clean sweep of middle distance victories while Eddie Burton (u-15) impressed with a stylish exhibition of high jumping.
