Kent 10000m Track championship  -  Canterbury  18 June 2008

Mark Wilkins takes county bronze

Mark Wilkins ran a stunning 10000m debut race to take county bronze at the Kent champs 10000m held at Canterbury on June 18th.[img:308l]

Tagging fellow Invicta runner Chris Holmes with him, Mark pulled away at just past the 8k mark to be first IEK runner home with a swift 34:34. Next IEK home and winning the U20 catagory was Chris Holmes with 34:54 another impressive time considering Chris is returning from injury!

Finishing 2nd in the U20 catagory was yet another Invicta youngster. Nick Little running his debut 10000m track race ran 35:49 which shows Invicta East Kent AC are in good hands in future years.

Leading vet was Tim Sutton who ran 37:07, with the evergreen Peter Bowell running a solid 38:05.

In the Womens race, Vicky Talbot-Rosner put in one of her trademark gritty performances to gain county silver and finish with a time of 43:34. A very successfull evening for Invicta East Kent ACs distance runners, and probably the strongest turn out and result for sometime in a track county distance running championship.
