Kent XC League Match 3 - Danson Park  Saturday 12 November 2011

Run-of-the-day .....  Josh Richards leaps to 7th from 15th

5 Teams in 7 races - Senior Women are 2nd with 3 in top 22

u-15 Girls pack all 6 in top 16 - Kenyan style - to win, again...!

U17 Men are 5th with their first scoring team of this season

The first race saw Holly Fielder (16) Maddy Young (26) and Lily Whitehead (33) take the u-13 Girls team to 7th with 85 place points, 5 behind Cambridge Harriers and 5 ahead of Thanet Road Runners (90)

With one match to go, on 3 December at West Wickham the New Sparrows are 9th, level on 5 league points with Thanet RR and Medway Park Phoenix but lose out on match points which is the total of all finishing positions from all the races

Next up came Josh Richards (u-13) whose previous best finish in this league was 15th at Somerhill - Josh's scintillating 7th this time was IEK's run-of-the-day and he gave the county selectors a timely nudge for when they declare the Kent team in January, after the Kent Championships at Wilmington

Kenyan-style, the u-15 Red Sparrows packed 5 in the first 10 and all 6 runners in the top 16 in a race of 34 finishers - in her best run yet, newcomer to cross-country Lydia Gallyer Barnett was up from 19th to 16th while Bobby Clay notched up her 12th league win in a row over 3 seasons.

Anna Weston turned in her best race so far this season to finsh 2nd, Lilly Coward was up to 7th from 11th last time out, and Ellen Whitehead (9) and Amy Old, 10th. Our 5 in top 10 are all frimly in the frame for the county team of 8 runners from 18 clubs in Kent
