The first outing on the track this season went with a bang for Chris Chancellor who had been sidelined for a few months with illness
At Lea Valley Chris recorded 11.36 for 100m, a tad outside his lifetime best of 11.2 as an under-17 at Mile End in 2009, but, in his own words "the fastest I've ever kicked off a season with, so that's encouraging"
Later in the afternoon, Chris scorched round heat 1 of the 400m winning against respected rivals and was delighted to learn his campaign to make the Kent team at the English Schools in July is well under way when given the official time of 48.93
Chris is the first IEK member to dip under 49 seconds for the one-lap race and his new pb is well inside the IEK u-20 record of 49.4 set by Kevin Ruck in 1978 - more, it also improves John Robertson's 1976 all-time IEK record of 49.2 which means Chris's u-20 best is now faster than the Senior best
