Watford Open 20 April 2011

Two IEK put in sizzling performances

In the fastest 800m race of the meeting and, in his first clash with Sam Dobin - white vest (left)  former IEK & Kent county athlete - Kieran Reilly (u-20) opened his 800m campaign by racing magnificently to 2nd by a single stride.

Kieran recorded 1.56.98, his best yet at 800m, and in the process, left Sam trailing 7th in 1.59.64

Kieran is 4th from left, race winner is 3rd from right

Earlier, Emily Hosker Thornhill (u20) made a positive comeback to track racing with only one race under her belt in almost two seasons Emily [3rd from left] could have declared a faster time and race in either of the two next faster races where she would have had to chase throughout from the back and her time of 2:18.75 would have put her 11th or 12th

Wisely, Emily declared a realistic time of 2:19 and was involved in a fine race where a storming final 300m took her past all but the male athlete from Tonbridge
