Hercules Wimbledon AC promote and organise 5 events every year, awarding a special Arthur Whitehead memorial medal to the best performance at each of them, including one each for the best male and best female performances at their annual Open for Young Athletes at Crystal Palace.

The 2011 awards go to Kieran Reilly (u-20) for winning the inaugural Dave Clarke Mile race (4mins 27.7sces) and to Bobby Clay (u-15) for winning 800m in 2mins 17.57secs, eclipsing the 29-year old meeting record by 2 seconds

Our young middle-distance squad have used the Hercules Wimbledon Open at Crystal Palace as the curtain raiser for each summer track season for the last 17 years - this is the first time, in all those years, that an IEK athlete has won this award, either male or female.
