Pippi Randall's Parlauf run helps Kent qualify for National FInals

IEK u15 girls have been involved in Aviva Indoor Sports Hall competitions this winter attending 4 events - Tunbridge Wells, Folkestone, Tonbridge, Swanley and on 12 February Burgess Hill for the regional finals where Rhiannon Wallwork and Pippi Randall represented Kent.

In a very close competition, Rhiannon Wallwork and Joanne Okusanya (Bexley) came joint first in the All-rounders competition and automatically qualified for the National Finals, just 2 points ahead of the 3rd placed athlete from Oxfordshire

In the last event of the day, Pippi Randall teamed up with Rhiannon in the 8 lap Paarlauf in what turned out to be a crucial race - they ran a tactical race alternating running 1 and 2 laps each, finishing a close 2nd.
With 70 points up for grabs for 1st place, 60 for 2nd place and so on, the girls had to come 4th or higher for the Kent team to qualify for the UK finals in Birmingham on 21st April.
