The Kent Schools teams of 8 for the English Schools in each age group is selected from performances at both this regional event as well as the County Schools event at Blean Woods in mid-January. The first 3 at Blean all resting as they are automatically selected

Junior Girls - Yrs  8 & 9

Anna Weston had a point to prove after her spill a week earlier in the opening 200m of the Southerns at Brighton where,  bruised & battered, she finished 41st

At Basildon, not only did she close in on Sabrina Sinha (Kent Schools champion at Blean) to finish 8th but Anna was also within touching distance of 3rd & 4th Junior girls from Berkshire and Hampshire who themselves had finished in 5th and 8th at Brighton

In her first outing at this level, Lydia Gallyer Barnett was the 12th Kent runner as she rounded off her first full cross-country season in 84th place in a Kent Schools county vest.

Inter Boys - Yrs 10 & 11

Our two runners in this race are both 1st year Inters - Barney Howard (61) plays rugby at a high level and was Kent's 11th scorer in 63rd of 84 county athletes.

Meanwhile, James Pitcher (27) was Kent's 6th finisher, tantalisingly close to catching season-long rival Jack Goss of Ashford who was 21st and 5th Kent runner

Inter Girls - Yrs 10 & 11

Bobby & Alex Clay rested, finishing 1-2 at Blean, while in her debut for Kent Schools Emily McKane (35th) was never more than 3-4 seconds away from Amy Old (31) throughout the 4km over an undulating course - both made claim to a place in the Kent Schools team of 8 at the English Schools in March - Amy 4th Kent finisher and Emily 6th

Lilly Coward 9th Kent runner, finished almost 100m ahead of the Bexley girl who had finished 60th among the u17s at Brighton

Senior Boys - Yrs 12 & 13

Kieran Reilly and Luke Dawson, 2-3 at Blean, rested. Chris Thomas divides his time running and sailing, yet manages sound cross-country runs - here he was Kent's 5th man home, just yards adrift of Bexley's Adam Willis, who was top 75 at Brighton

Senior Girls - Yrs 12 & 13

In the team event of 6-to-score Beth Burnett (48) was the vital 6th scorer to help the Kent Senior Girls finish 5th of the 7 county teams

Kent College's Rebecca Weston, international hockey player, makes time for cross-country training and is returning to form with a vengeance.

Rebecca took on UK No.1 Jessica Judd for more than half the race, to finish a strong 2nd, over 100m clear of Surrey's Steph McCall - Rebecca missed the Southerns (England hockey) the same margin ahead of McCall at Brighton would have put Rebecca in the top 10 that day
