Kent Relay Championship 2012

Our Relay Teams Perform in the Rain

On an extremely wet Sunday afternoon, 11 Invicta East Kent female athletes were in attendance to take part in Four Relay Races, this is how they got on at the Kent Championships.

Under 13 Girls  4 x 100m. Heat.

There were 2 heats to qualify for the final. Emily Higham got the team off to a good start handing the baton safely to Laura Parrish, who ran well passing the baton to Connie Willet on the third leg, with team captain Holly Fielder on the last leg, the Invicta supporters were vocally celebrating the 2nd place finish. Only to have the elation washed away by a team disqualification. We were one of five teams judged to of infringed the rules in this event.

A disappointed group of young ladies, who in my opinion deserved to be in the final.

Next Under 17 Girls  3 x 800m. Final.

The formidable trio of Bobby Clay, Lilly Coward & team captian Alex Clay led the race from the off, in harsh wet conditions, Bobby gave Lilly a good lead over the 2nd placed athlete only for Lilly and then Alex to stretch this to about 120m by the finish.

A really professional run from three class athletes. Gold & Kent Champions !

By this stage in the day, the organisers confirmed to everyone that the day would be cut short due to the torrential rain and deteriorating conditions.

Senior women's 4 x 400m. Cancelled !

Team of captain Hannah Biddiss, Kyla Clay, Ellie Gray & Sarah Hotham had mixed feelings about not running.

Ladies thank you for giving up your afternoon to come and represent the club.

Under 13 Girls 3 x 800m. Final

The penultimate race of the day !

Laura Parrish raced off on her first leg and settled into fourth position befor handing over to Connie Willett who ran a strong leg tracking down the athlete in third place. Holly Fielder soon got the team into bronze medal position with the Invicta supporters going wild. Wait ! Holly moves the team into second position what an exciting finish to the day.

Team Silver ! And probably picked up a swimming badge each.

I would just like to thank everyone who participated and supported our athletes on the day.
