Invicta Guest at 2013 Hampshire Multi Events Champs

Invicta had three guest entries at the Hampshire Multi Events Championships that took place at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth on the Bank Holiday Monday (6th May).

Holly Fielder (U15G) was joined by the two Willett sisters, Connie (U15G) and Lulu (U13G).

For the Willetts this was their first opportunity to depart from the comfort of their Modern Pentathlon experiences and to try the athletics equivalent. All three girls were competing a year young in their respective age groups and in a County that has a strong Multi Events tradition.

The girls also had to overcome the 9.15am start enforced by the organisers as a result of the near 2 hour overruns experienced the year before!

Holly finished 5th overall in her age group with a total score of 2421 points. She started with a solid long jump of 4.62m (459 points). She then followed that up with pb’s in the 75mh (13.5s – 521 points) and shot put (6.99m – 334 points). Then after a disappointing high jump (1.30m – 409 points) Holly rallied to produce a storming multi event pb in the 800m of 2:29.6 (698 points) in only her first competitive 800m of the season.

Connie finished 14th in the same competition with 1610 points. She started with a nervy long jump (3.20m – 142 points) and 75mh (16.2s – 314 points). She then rallied with pb’s in the shot put (5.33m – 229 points) and high jump (1.30m – 409 points). She then concluded with a fine 800m of 2:45.1 (516 points) which was just outside her pb.

Lulu finished 15th (in the U13) event with 1258 points. Doing a slightly different order of events, Lulu opened with pb’s in the high jump (1.15m – 266 points) and 70mh (15.5s – 294 points). She then had a nervy long jump of 3.14m (131 points) but bounced back with pb’s in the shot put (5.17m – 219 points) and 800m (3:01.9 – 348 points).

Well done to all three girls.
