Southern Athletics League 12/7/14

Just 4 of our men athletes travelled to Eastbourne for this match, plus our (thankfully!!) ever reliable Gilien Davison. “Iron man” Lee Rogers (Sen) collected the bulk of our points (as so often) but had to settle for “only” 11 events as we did not contest the relays.

Here are Lee`s results-“A” string-100m-5th-(14.1); 200m-5th-(28.2); 400m-5th-(60.8); 800m-5th-(2-36.7); 1500m-4th-(5-45.4);110mH-2nd-(21.3); 400mH-3rd-(68.8); 3k s/c-4th-(12-43.5); HJ-5th-(1-0);LJ-5th-(3-68); “B” string-3k-4th-(11-26.5). Thank you yet again Lee.

Abel Tsegay (u20) produced another stunning performance when winning the “A” string 3k by more than 30 secs-(8-31.3)!! Congratulations Abel.

Our throws very much benefited today from the presence of David Glendower (m45) who unfortunately is restricted in his availability because of work commitments. David came 4th in the “A” string Ham-(23-73) and 5th in both the “B” string Shot-(7.08) and Dis-(17-45).

In the “A” string events John Gilbert (m70) placed 5th in the Shot-(7-58) and Dis-(21.42) and 4th in the Jav-(26.02), and in a rare venture into the jumps he was 4th in the TJ-(6-58). In the “B” string John placed 5th in the LJ-(2-91) and 3rd in the Ham-(22-29).

Our final match is at Horsham on 2/8.  Michael Gallyer-Barnett has very kindly stepped-up as acting team manager in the absence of John Gilbert. Please give him your support. Good luck at Horsham.

 Yours in Sport
