Summer Road Relays from Folkestone

Tuesday 12th of May saw the start of this season's summer road relays. The first round took place at Fokestone, just past the Rotunda pleasure park. Invicta had a good turn out - it was good to see two senior men teams competing. Our best age group being the M50 men, they won, so big well done to them, the team comprising, John Wilkins (16:32), Roger Newson (17:14) and Tevor Edgley coming down to a younger age group (17:30). Our W45 women also won their race, a good solid performance from the team of Vicky Talbot-Rosner (17:34), Sharon Hawkins (16:42) and Sue Cooper (18:43) Our senior men A-squad finished 3rd overall, with our fastest runner being Mark Wilkins (13:59) 3rd fastest individual on the day. It was good to see strength in depth with our senior mens squad, 6 of our runners were in the top 20 overall times, three of these being our U17s! Our M40s did not have a complete team - a big shame - nor did our senior women! Liz Weeks was our fastest female on the day with 16:13 and was 4th quickest female overall, with Heidi Coleman 5th quickest female - come on girls get down to the relays and run, you have a good team now, let's see some numbers turning out!!! [doc:630] I've now handed team management duty over to Tom Purnell full-time for the relays, so he is the man you need to see for team selections and numbers at future races.
