Kent Road Running Grand Prix - Individual standings now available

After the latest round of the Kent Grand Prix, Invicta East Kent AC are in strong position in both mens and Womens team events. Our Men are 2nd, less than 200 pts behind leaders Tunbridge Wells Harriers, with a gap to 3rd placed Larkfield AC. To stand a chance of winning the league, itís down to getting out in numbers in the remaining rounds, bearing in mind the Thanet Marathon will be a poor scoring day for us. Our Women are 8th - we had a bad day at Harvel which really hurt us, but we are in a close bunch of teams fighting for 4th overall. Maidstone Harriers, Larkfield AC and Paddock Wood have built a bit of a gap.. Indivdual standings after the Harvel 5 show that our Senior Men's top runner is a vet-60 : Trevor Edgley is having a fantastic season and is 5th and Tom Purnell (our top Senior Man) is 6th. Mark Wilkins is 13th, but has done fewer events - if he takes part in the Cliffe Woods 10k and two other Kent Grandprix events, he stands a chance of becoming the 2009 Kent Grandprix champion! Tim Sutton is our top M40 in 11th and, in the M50 age group, John Wilkins (6th) and Adam Cowper-Smith (7th) are both strongly placed at this stage of the year. M60s Trevor Edgley is pretty much running and hiding in this age group, with Mike Conway holding third place. As with our men, our top female runner is a vet! Vicky Talbot-Rosner (despite injury problems this season) is holding 12th place, with Sue Cooper 19th. Brianna Zoll is our first senior women and has leaped big time up the standings to 31st! Our vet45 women have dropped back a little but are still in good positions. Vicky Talbot-Rosner is 4th, Sue Cooper is 8th and Janice Moorekite (17th) is moving nicely up the standings. Cliffe Woods 10K is next and im expecting to see a good turn out of IEK Roadrunners, plus some younger runners who are allowed to compete in this race. [doc:445] Michael Gore (Road race co-ordinator)
