9 IEK members help Kent Schools to 5 national team medals

Although Surrey won 3 age groups and took bronze in the Senior Girls, Kent emerged as THE strongest county in the Schools sector by bagging 5 team medals, [img:393r]winning both the Senior Boys & Girls, taking silver at both the Junior Boys & Junior Girls and then a team bronze in the Inter Boys event.

Highest placed IEK individuals - all 3 in the top 20 - were Inters Hugo Hayes (13) Rebecca Weston (17) and Senior Girl Beth Carter, 15th.

Hugo & Rebecca were also IEK athletes who lead the Kent finishers in their races.

Four IEK were all well inside the top 100 : Jack Balsdon (28) was only 3 seconds behind Kent's leading Junior Boy, while Senior Jason Prickett (62) was given the same time as Frank Kilama, a 3,000m ESAA track medallist in 2007.

Alex Clay was 63rd Junior Girl and Alex Newson was 72nd Inter Boy.

Kath Lough and Emily Hosker Thornhill were both 8th Kent finishers in the Seniors and Inters respectively.

Inter Boy Kieran Reilly, Junior Girl Annabel Carter and Josh Freemont (Senior Boys) were the non-travelling reserves
