Jaffer shaves 23 year-old record - Anna betters 1991 record

18 IEK-trained students netted 21 medals between them when representing their District in 37 events at the Kent Schools 2010 Championships at Ashford.[img:653r] Jaffer Adams and Anna Alvarez (both u-15) matched each other in two ways - both came away with a gold and silver medal and their gold medal (both of National Grade 1 standard) also improved a very long-standing IEK u-15 club record. [img:652l]Jaffer Adams [RIGHT] was narrowly pipped in 100m but his dominant win in the Junior Boys 200m in 23.58 shaved 2 hundredths of a second off Andrew Loveland's 1987 mark of 23.6. Anna Alvarez [LEFT] took silver in Javelin, having first lofted the Shot Put 10.62m to win by almost one metre and also improve the legendary Liz Gibbens mark (set in 1991) by a massive 20 cm. Full report to be posted here once Kent Schools website add official Field results to the track results already published there.
