Five young IEK all produce best performances at Milton Keynes

In perfect conditions, 5 young IEK runners gave notice of high level racing at the BMC Academy races for young athletes.

Two weeks earlier, Sam Hudson (u-17) and Lilly Coward (u-15) had set 800m pbs in their heats of the Kent Championship at Ashford - Sam now posted 2min 02.9 to shave half a second off his 800m best, and Lilly's 2min 28.28 nicked 3 tenths off her Kent heat time.

To simulate Championship heat/final schedules, Jason Prickett and Rebecca Weston successfully completed a race programme of two fast races within a few days where the second race is faster : both raced top quality times at Crawley on Wednesday and, here, both went even faster, each with a National Grade 1 time.

Rebecca focused on winning the race against unknown opposition and in the process posted a season best of 2min 13.41 putting her 8th u-17 in the country

Jason raced a strong u-20 field to finish 3rd in 1min 54.65 to put him in UK's top 30 in the country.

Anna Weston (u-13) was the only IEK athlete to tackle 1500m : she stalked the BMC pacemaker all the way (at one stage pushing to lead him...!) and her 5mins 09.72 puts her second among ALL IEK females this season, with only sister Rebecca faster.
