Grace & Ali post PBs - Jason Prickett fastest IEK 800m in 20 years

At Watford's 3rd Open of 2010, three young IEK members (two u-17s + one u-20) scorched round the track faster than they'd ever run 800m before - Grace Leggatt improved her 800m best by 2 seconds in a fast Race 2 while, from lane 1 of Race 5, Ali Noel (also u-17) made sure he wasn't boxed in at the break and his keen involvement with the race ensured he battled his way to 2mins 10.7, a massive personal best by over 7 seconds. Jason Prickett (u-20) raced astutely in the top race of the evening, passing the bell 9th of 9 then picking off 2 rivals down the back straight and two more off the final bend to finish 5th in a blanket with 4 Senior Men from Portsmouth, Guildford, Coventry, and Brchfield : Jason's time of 1min 54.94 betters his best by 3 seconds and is a National Grade 1 for u-20 - more, it is the fastest 800m by any club member for the last 20 years and is within 2 seconds of James Websters's u-20 IEK record of 1:53.0 set in 1989. Meanwhile, Chris Holmes continues to impress with IEK's first sub-16 time at 5,000m in a decade : Chris was 11th in the heats of the British Universities Championships at Bedford in 15mins 48.62 - almost 40 seconds faster than when winning the IEK internal Club Championship in 2009 at Canterbury.
