In the 600m, Alistair Noel (u17) tested his speed in 1min 37.1, while 9 year-old Douglas Noel and 8 year-old Oliver Weston raced each other in 2:06 and 2:16 respectively. Jacob Burton recorded 4.42.38 in race 3 of 1,500m, while Anna Weston (u13) ploughed a lonely furrow in race 2 in 5:20 between adults either 30 secs faster or 60 secs slower. In the sprints, Ben Burton (u-17) and IEK newcomer Joe Hawkins (u15) raced each other at both 100m and 200m : in race 6 of 100m, they notched an IEK 1-2, recording 12.29 and 12.40, while in race 4 Rhiannon Wallwork (u-13) was 2nd in 14.06 In race 4 of the 200m, Ben again got the better of Joe, this time Ben's twin brother Jacob finished between them, all three within 2 10ths of a second of each other.

IEK at Regional Intercounties

At the Southern Intercounty match for 13 counties at Copthall (Hendon) Anna Alvarez (ranked 6 in UK Shot Put) competed in two events within 15 minutes - first her opening throw of 11.28m got her 2nd in Shot to a Berkshire girl ranked 3rd : within 15 minutes, Anna was 5th in Javelin with her 2nd round throw of 28.29m [img:703f] On the track, 1st year u-15 Bobby Clay fearlessly challenged the UK No.2 from Essex and UK No. 7 from Bedfordshire in a tactical 800m final and was only 3 seconds adrift after the two older girls suddenly changed gear down the back straight. Bobby is ranked 43 in UK with a best of 2.20 which, this season, her two rivals have bettered 8-9 times each. The picture shows her in heats (No.10 in blue Kent colours) shadowing UK no. 2 Kaylee Dodd (7) in red Essex vest Jaffer Adams (11.78) was 8th in the final of u15 Boys 100m where he too was up against a UK No. 2 from Essex who, surprisingly, was beaten by the UK No.8 from Surrey.
