Southern Menís League Match 5 Luton - 31 July

All hinged on the last match of the season. IEK were lying third behind Luton and Biggleswade despite having won 2 of the previous 4 matches. Could we do enough to gain second place and automatic promotion? At the beginning of the afternoon we had 8 names on our list and had filled A and B strings in every event except pole vault. Unfortunately Lee Rogers took a fall in the 400mH and was unable to complete all his events and another athlete failed to turn up. However, other athletes stepped up to the mark so only the B string of the 110mH, the javelin and the 5000m and the 4 x 100m relay were not covered. After an exciting and busy afternoon the final scores were; Biggleswade 218, Luton 193.5 and IEK 161.5. So we finish 3rd in the league but can still feel proud of our efforts. As team manager for the day I would like to thank the athletes who competed and Hannah, Carol and Simon for their help in judging. Report by:- Gilien Davison Busiest IEK Senior on the day was Lee Rogers (9 individual events) - Vet David Glendower did 5 events, adding High Jump to all 4 throws - brothers Ben and Jacob Burton (u-17) did 3 individual events each For results click underlined text...[doc:697]
