British Masters XC - Birmingham
Four Invicta East Kent athletes raced the BMAF cross country championships in Perry Park Birmingham on Saturday 12th March 2011
| This race is one of the top events for Masters in the country, and attracts some of the best athletes around - it is also the main selection race to represent your home country at the British & Irish Masters XC championships in November.
Over an undulating parkland course of 3 or 4 laps, conditions were perfect for those fast track athletes - very little mud & lots of easy grass to race on.
The first race of the day - for all females and male vets over 65 - was 6km (3 laps) and featured three of our female athletes, Vicky Talbot-Rosner, Theresa Johns & Sue Cooper.
It was quick from the outset and all 3 worked hard with no let up in the speed at the front - all our athletes did well to hold on for 7th team in the FV45 competition.

Theresa Johns (centre) was 14th FV45 in 28:59 and Sue Cooper completed our scoring trio as 21st V50 in 30:32

Sole male IEK representative in the 2nd race was MV40 Tim Sutton who, coming back to fitness after a hard winter, ran the longer 8k course over 4 laps and was 32nd in a fast and furious race
