Kent Cross-country League  -  races in 2011

National XC Championships 2011  -  Alton Towers

From Kent XC League Organisers -

Following the cancellation of the Kent XC League meeting at New Barn Park on 4th December, we have been trying to re-schedule the events.

Final Young athletes’ fixture

It is proposed the entire event timetable from 4th December be transferred to the next meeting on 12th February at New Barn Park, Swanley

  • Start times on 12th Feb - as 4th Dec, starting 1200hrs with u-13 Girls race

Final Senior fixture

Paul Hills has a further provisional booking for Parkwood School, Swanley for Saturday 12 March. It is hoped the booking will be confirmed by early next week mid-December).

The final round of the Senior Women's + Senior Men's leagues will then be transferred to the new date on 12th March.

  • Start times for 12th March - still to be confirmed.

Trophies for the Junior League

Presentation of junior league trophies will take place on the 12th February.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
While fixture clashes are almost inevitable, we hope this is a reasonable solution which will allow a full set of races to take place.

I will post an update as soon as the booking and timetable is confirmed.

Best Regards,
Dave

  • the Club pays for entry of athletes in age group teams - names of 1st claim IEK members who confirm their intention to compete are normally submitted by Team Managers
  • Postal club entries to be collated by Mark Wilkins (Seniors) and Sue Rogers (u-20 and younger) by 21 December
  • After that date, entry to be done online by the entry deadline of Weds 5 January - using link National XC Online Entry Form - with entrants to keep details to claim refund from IEK
  • the journey to Alton Towers from IEK track is 4 hours, according to AA Route Planner
  • the Club has agreed that overnight accommodation is the best way to get ALL our athletes to the start line of this event fresh and raring to go : the club will therefore contribute a £10 travel allowance for any competing member, and an additional accommodation allowance of £10 for a competing member staying over on the night before
  • The 2010 AGM decided it preferrable for the Club to book a team/club bus plus rooms at the same hotel for competing athletes to share :  however, it has been found this is too complex for one person to organise when taking into account the need to print/distribute and collect parental consent forms for under-18s who are given parental permission for freedom to leave the team members (or the hotel) unaccompanied.

ALL competing athletes are thus advised to

  • travel independently to Alton Towers
  • book and pay for their own room
  • book and pay for their own restaurants and meals

and then, after completing the race, to apply for the allowance
