Hercules 2012

Hercules Wimbledon Open 2012

Crystal Palace

IEK fielded a strong team of athletes at the recent Hercules Wimbledon Open at Crystal Palace on the 1st April 2012.

There were some excellent performances from many of our athletes:-

Holly Fielder U13G

Long Jump  4.54m  pb  1st   National Grade 1 standard

200m  28.34s  pb  1st   National Grade 1 standard

800m  2minutes 34.1secs  pb  3rd   National Grade 3 standard

Amber de Moubray U15G

Long Jump  4.19m  pb  6th

200m  30.85s  pb  18th

Stuart Earl, coach at IEK for Holly Fielder comments, “She had an excellent start to the new track season picking up two golds (long jump and 200m) and a bronze (800m) at the Hercules & Wimbledon Young Athletes Open Meeting at Crystal Palace. Her long jump of 4.54m was not only a pb, it is currently the longest jump outdoors this year and places her currently 3rd in the UK rankings. Her 200m and 800m times were also pb’s and these currently place her 8th in the UK rankings for both events.”

“Amber de Moubray also had a strong start to the season picking up pb’s in both of her events, the long jump (where she finished a creditable 6th) and 200m. Amber is a first year U15 and competed very well against girls who were largely a year older than her.”

Alistair Noel U20

800m 2minutes 04.87secs

Peter Mullervy, who coaches Alistair (Ally) commented, “Ally had an inspired and confident front running race, which lead to an exceptional 6 second personal best.” Peter also went on to comment on a disappointing race for Kieran Reilly, who missed out on defending his 1 mile title. Peter said “Kieran allowed the winning athlete, Sean Malloy to turn a 1 mile race into an 800m race. Kieran knew straight away at the end that he had made this mistake. Kieran is a talented athlete and will learn from this and go on to bigger and better things.”

James Roberts who coaches quite a number of the athletes taking part on the day was pleased with all the performances commenting, “I can't narrow down to any one or two outstanding performances : for many different reasons, all 16 IEK athletes who I coach were outstanding..... including the 5 newcomers.”
