18th April Watford Open

At the 18th April Open Meeting at Watford, six IEK middle-distance training partners posted their own season best 1,500m performance so far, or better, including Barney Howard (u-17) who thus tops our IEK Men's 1,500m rankings so far this season.

 

- In Race 1 Jon Ness (Senior M) was 1st as he posted 5min 01.87 in his first ever track 1,500m

                Not far behind and in 4th place, Amy Old (u17) posted 5min 08.87 to improve by a massive 10 secs the pb she set only 3-week ago at Crystal Palace in the Hercules Wimbledon Open

 

- In Race 2, Anna Weston (u-15) was 8th in 4:56,63 - seven seconds faster than her winning time at Crystal Palace 3 weeks ago

                 Lilly Coward (u-17) was 15th in 5:20.0, as she posted a season best time

 

- In Race 3 Bobby Clay tackled 1,500m for first time this season as an u-17 and set the track alight with her 3rd consecutive IEK Female all-time best : Bobby's 4:29.16 for 1,500m is......

    - best ever 1,500m by an IEK under-17 - beats by 3 secs Beth Carter's record at the Watford Open in September 2007....

    - best ever 1,500m  by an IEK female - her time now is also 3/tenths faster than 4:29.46, Charlotte Dale's best ever by a Female IEK at an InterCounties match at Copthall in August in 2001...

    - puts Bobby top of 1,500m UK rankings 2012 for u-17 Females...

    - puts Bobby in top 35 ALL females in 2012 UK this season so far, including senior internationals...

    - puts Bobby top of current u-17 UK rankings 2012 in three different events : 600m, Mile and now 1,500m

 

-  In Race 4, Barney Howard (u-17) finished 10th in 4mins 26.91, improving by 3 secs the pb he set at Hercules Wimbledon almost 3 weeks ago and he now goes top of the IEK Male rankings for 1,500m in the 2012 season so far.
