Last weekend saw the culmination of the track season for many with the U13 Champs, Masters Champs and Combined Events Champs all rolled together into two days of fabulous athletics at Medway Park, Gillingham.
Flying the flag for Invicta in a depleted Masters team was Glen Davison, who took 2nd place in the M40 400m. Known for his middle distance running rather than his sprinting, Glen took a chance by stepping into the shorter distance, but his efforts paid off with a silver medal.
At the other end of the age scale, Invicta's U13 girls were a force to be reckoned with. Mattea Stanley took 2nd in the 70m hurdles and long jump 3rd in the 150m and 4th in the 75m. Miller Payne took the U13G 800m silver medal and Tia Wiggins took 3rd behind Mattea in the long jump and 3rd behind Miller in the 800m.
Our combined eventers were showing their sticking power, competing over multiple events: Tia Humphreys took on her first U15G heptathlon, finishing in a very strong 5th position, Gracie Lawton finished 3rd in the U17W heptathlon, Oliver Downs finished 1st (in a new UK record) in the U17M Octathlon, and Doug Noel retained his 1st place in the Senior Men's decathlon.
