An unseasonably warm, dry day greeted the 12 Invicta East Kent athletes who made the trip to Stoneleigh in Warwickshire to compete in the National Primary Schools Cross Country Finals. All bar two were competing in the event for their first time, but they kept the nerves in check and supported each other incredibly.
As a club we had an athlete in nearly every race, Jude started us on a high placing 21st out of 47 in the Yr 3 boys race. Antonia and Ollie went in the Yr 4 races and finished 27th out of 90 and 81 out of 84 respectively.
Starting off the afternoon session was Tess in the Yr5 girls race, finishing 113th out of 154, followed by Thomas and Patrick who finished 111st and 138th out of 164 in the Yr5 boys race.
Wrapping up the day were the Yr 6 races; Jessie and Ivy finished 110th and 113th out of 181 respectively, and then Edward, William, Archie and Ben finished off in style in the Yr 6 boys, finishing 52nd, 65th, 96th and 138th out of 182 respectively.
All the athletes were a credit to themselves, their schools and the club.
