Kent Indoor Champs

Invicta athletes were out in force at the recent Kent Indoor Track and Field Championships. Taking
place at Lee Valley as part of the Tri-Counties Champs (in combination with Hertfordshire’s and
Middlesex’s County Champs), the weekend presents the opportunity to be part of a fantastic
weekend of athletics.

In the Senior Men, Nickoy won his 60m heat to take him through to the final where he finished
second in 6.90 secs. Doug also finished second in the senior mens’ high jump with 1.75m and also
came second in the pole vault with 4.30m. Dough finished off his weekend with a 4 th place in the
shot with a throw of 11.74m.

In the U20 men, Joshua qualified second in his heat of the 60m in 7.21 secs and finished third in the
final with an even faster time of 7.16 secs. James qualified fastest from the 200m heats in 22.26
secs, and won the final in 21.93, setting a new Championship Best Performance.
Disappointingly there were no Invicta athletes in the U17M events.

Taking part on their first ever Kent Indoor Champs, Shan and Jacob went head-to-head in the U15B
60m heats, with Jacob making it through to the final where he then came second in 7.85 secs. Shan
then went again in the 200m where he qualified fastest in his heat and finished 4th in the final.
Jacob then competed again in his strongest event the 60mH where he won the final in 9.64 secs.
In the field, Story flew the flag for Invicta finishing third in the shot with a throw of 13.05m.

In the Senior Women, Amy showed she is making a great recovery from injury to finish 4th in the
800m followed by a perfectly executed win in the 1500m. Rebekah finished third in the 1500m race
too, making it a real family affair.

In the U20W, Marie made her Invicta debut, finishing 6th in the 200m final in a time of 33.47 secs.
Georgie showed everyone how it was done by qualifying fastest in the 400m heats and winning the
final in a fabulous time of 57.52 secs.

Lucy qualified second in her heat of the 200m, one of the most popular events of the weekend. She
followed that up with a 4th place in the semi-final. Gracie showed her strength as a combined
eventer by taking on the 60mH, finishing 7 th in a time of 10.65 secs. Gracie also scored a hattrick of
third places in the U17W high jump with 1.45m, the long jump with 4.57m, and the shot with a
throw of 8.81m.

Mattea took the win in the long jump (4.43m) and then came 4 th in the final of the 200m, and 5 th in
the final of the 60mH, as well as competing in the 60m and Freya finished 5 th in the 300m final, as
well as competing in the 60m.

A great weekend finished with five gold medals, four silvers and six bronzes as well as many personal
bests and county debuts for the Invicta athletes.
