New Course and Race HQ for the 2026 Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race.
Invicta East Kent AC, the organisers of the Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race, are delighted to announce that they have reached agreement with the University of Kent to host the race at their Sports Centre in 2026. The University also hope to provide a team of runners to take part in the race, which is the largest road race in East Kent. It will take place on Sunday 25th January starting at 9.00am.
A new course, starting and finishing outside the University Sports Centre (CT2 7NL) will take the runners for an initial one mile loop around the Park Farm part of the campus before heading out through the villages of Tyler Hill and Radfall. It then turns down South Street and back along the Crab and Winkle Way with a loop through Blean. Working with Kent Highways, the course, which is mainly run along undulating country lanes, will be traffic free.
Locally based Cole Gibbens was the race winner in 2025 with his 3rd straight win. He ran the excellent time of 51m 10s, with Ashford AC’s Marshall Smith a strong second. Ladies winner in 57m 10s was Invicta East Kent’s Rebecca Weston, who outpaced 2 time winner Chelsea Baker of Bristol & West AC. Both are hoping to return to retain their titles.
The last 3 races have sold out with last years’ race providing 1,409 finishers. The organisers hope to sell out once again and reach the race limit of 2,000 places, allowed by the new course in 2026. Runners of all abilities are welcome to challenge themselves over the 10 mile distance. There is a significant cash prize for the first three male and female runners and for veteran age groups. There are also prizes for the winning male and female teams. There is a super new medal and free photographic downloads.
The race will continue to support Kent based Demelza Hospice Care for Children. They provide superb facilities for young people and their families. They hope to encourage sponsored runners and will be providing marshal support in return for receiving a cash donation from the race organisers. The entry form also gives entrants the opportunity to donate to the charity.
Race Director Glenn Mousley said “2025 was a really good race with a great atmosphere. In 2026 we are excited by our new course and working with the University of Kent. We hope it will be a fast course with many PB’s and will once again be an early test for those taking part in one of the spring marathons”
