Kent Young Athletics League 2026 - Division 1 - Meet 3 - U14s & U16s

Saturday 23rd May saw the return of our U14s and U16s to take on their second  Division 1 KYAL meet of the season, this time hosted by the lovely people at Central Park Athletics Club in Dartford.

On what was probably the hottest day of the year so far, during the hottest May on record a coach full of our lovely youngsters arrived raring to go!

With a timetable including some events not usually competed in by our young athletes, it was great that we had people willing to step up and try something new to maximise points for the team!

Special shout out to Margo, Jessie, Theo, Archie and Will for giving Pole Vault a go. After only one training session to learn the basics, you all did so well.

Highlight of the day was the race walk events, it was so lovely to hear the whole team shouting words of encouragement as the athletes went by. Some strong performances were seen, with some of the team discovering talents they never knew they had! Massive well done to Isla, Charlotte V, Hugo, Edward, Theo, Isabella & Claudia on your debut performances!

Despite the heat, spirits remained high and there were even Pb's to be had.

Thanks as always to the coaches, officials and parents for coming out and supporting the day.

Particularly Mike and Lyndsey who always show up on behalf of team Invicta to carry out the much needed officiating duties.

Final meet for the U14s & U16s is on 27th May at Central Park, Dartford, before the U12s finish the season in August.
