Invicta East Kent AC have an Elite Athlete Programme to encourage the development of higher performing athletes that are members of the club.
The idea is that by giving athletes financial and mentoring support where needed that their, development as athletes can be enhanced and that they can perform as well as they are able and also help to raise the profile of the club.
The programme operates across all age groups from U15 up to Seniors and operates at two levels.
Full Elite status is given to those athletes U17 upwards that are already performing at a high level which generally means being ranked in or near to the top 10 for their age group on the Power of 10. This also includes those that are County Champions in Kent for Cross Country.
Feeder Elite Athletes are those that are U15 upwards, aspiring towards the top 10 on the Power of 10 for their event in their specific age group. It also includes those that are recovering from injury and those that are showing great improvement or promise.
Eligibility is normally based on a number of performances and also for those that compete on a regular basis. There is some flexibility depending on their main event.
Athletes on the programme benefit from reduced or free membership, S&C sessions, run gait analysis, and a contribution towards the cost of expenses of travelling outside the county to compete, the cost of any treatments and kit and shoes.
The programme and those on it is reviewed on a regular basis and we follow the progress of a number of athletes who are likely to be considered for future inclusion.
